The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapses after a freighter collides with it

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, USA has collapsed due to a cargo ship collision. Several vehicles crossing the 2.6 km (1.6 mi) long bridge plunged into the Patapsco River.

The Baltimore Fire Department said about 20 people were believed to have fallen into the water. Emergency relief service personnel have rushed to the spot and rescue operations are currently underway. City officials say a ship collided with the bridge at 1:30 a.m. local time and collapsed.

According to the data reports, it has been revealed that the Singapore flagged cargo ship named Dali was sailing to the port of Colombo in Sri Lanka. According to the Ocean Radar System, it left Port Breeze harbor at 00.45 am.

Shipping company Synergy Marine Group said all crew members on board, including two pilots, had been checked and no injuries were reported, adding that “the exact cause of the incident has yet to be determined”.
