The arrest of Jonathan Andic, 45, son of Mango founder Isak Andic, has been made by Catalan police in a renewed investigation into his father’s death, which was initially deemed accidental.

Isak Andic, 71, passed away in December 2024 after falling from a ravine during a walk in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona, with his son.

There are conflicting reports on whether they were alone or accompanied by other family members. Jonathan has denied responsibility for the incident.

A family spokesperson expressed confidence in his innocence while confirming that Jonathan was under police questioning.

Originally, investigators in Catalonia closed the case in early 2025, citing a lack of evidence for criminal activity.

However, the case was reopened later due to inconsistencies in Jonathan’s testimony.

Following his arrest, Jonathan appeared before a judge who imposed bail at €1 million, mandated the withdrawal of his passport, and required him to report to court weekly.

Isak Andic, who co-founded Mango in Barcelona in 1984, had a significant impact on the global fashion industry, with the brand now operating almost 3,000 stores in 120 countries.

At the time of his death, his net worth was estimated at $4.5 billion.

Mango CEO Toni Ruiz indicated that Isak’s passing would leave a significant void and emphasized the importance of continuing his legacy in the company.
