Attempted assassination of Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania

After former US President Donald Trump opened fire at a rally in Pennsylvania, he walked off stage in an assassination attempt.
Trump had just begun addressing his supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania, when the shooting began.
Trump had multiple blasts as he talked about his successor, President Joe Biden, and his administration. Several supporters behind Trump, holding signs, ran when they heard the gunshots. He was soon swarmed by US Secret Service agents and dragged off the platform and into a waiting vehicle. He raised a fist as he bundled into the car.
In a post on his social network, Trump said a bullet pierced the “top” of his right ear. Earlier, his spokesman said he was “doing well” and receiving treatment at a local medical facility. “I immediately knew something was wrong, I heard a startling sound, a gunshot, and I immediately felt the bullet rip through the skin,” Trump wrote. “There was a lot of bleeding, so I knew what was going on.”
Blood was clearly visible on Trump’s ear and face as security officers led him away. U.S. Secret Service agents shot and killed the suspect at the scene, agency spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. A bystander was killed and two others were seriously injured in the firing, he added.
The assailant was armed with a rifle and fired from a tall structure hundreds of meters outside the venue. They further said that this attack is considered as an assassination attempt. Mr. Guglielmi said that Trump is safe and measures are in place to protect him. He said an active investigation led by the FBI is underway.
