Meta, the company that owns social media networks Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has officially introduced a new app called Forum, which offers a similar look and experience to the Reddit platform, without any prior notice.

The main purpose of this app is to provide a dedicated space for existing Facebook Groups and allow users to build communities and exchange ideas on various topics of their choice.

Tech commentators point out that Meta has taken this step with the aim of providing direct competition to the Reddit platform, which is currently extremely popular around the world.

However, since this Forum app is currently in the testing stage, only Apple iOS (iPhone) users living in the United States of America (USA) are able to download it.

Tech commentators point out that Meta has taken this step to prevent many users from turning to platforms like Reddit due to the excessive congestion in the main Facebook app and to create a separate, free environment for community discussions.

This further demonstrates that Meta, which previously introduced the Threads app to compete with the Twitter platform, is engaged in a massive campaign to take over the entire social media space on the internet by bringing an alternative to Reddit.
