Woman felt ‘dehumanised’ after Musk’s Grok AI used to digitally remove her clothes
A woman has expressed her distress after her image was manipulated using Elon Musk’s AI Grok, which digitally undressed her without consent, leading her to feel “dehumanised and reduced into a sexual stereotype.
“On the social media platform X, users have reported similar experiences, where Grok was requested to alter images of women to depict them in bikinis or sexual scenarios, raising significant concerns about consent and the ethical implications of such technology.
XAI, the company behind Grok, has remained silent on these allegations, dismissing media inquiries with an automated response.
The issue has drawn attention from authorities, with a Home Office representative indicating plans to legislate against nudification tools, proposing new criminal offenses that could impose severe penalties on those who create or distribute such technology.
Ofcom, the communications regulator, highlighted the importance of tech companies assessing risks related to illegal content, although it has not confirmed any investigations into X or Grok.
Critics argue that Grok’s functionality has allowed harmful content to proliferate unchecked, with legal experts noting that the platform has the power to prevent these abuses but has failed to act.
