Avatar: Fire and Ash, the latest instalment in James Cameron’s science fiction franchise, is quickly ascending the ranks of the highest-grossing films of all time.

Released in 2025, the film has achieved a cumulative global box office total of $1.23 billion within its first four weekends, comprising $342.6 million from domestic markets and $887.4 million internationally.

This total places it at No. 29 on the all-time highest-grossing movies chart, up from No. 38 after three weeks in theaters.

The movie has surpassed several notable films, including The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ($1.14 billion), Aquaman ($1.152 billion), Captain America: Civil War ($1.155 billion), and Iron Man 3 ($1.215 billion).

However, despite its success, the film is experiencing a faster decline in box office revenue compared to its predecessors, casting doubt on its ability to reach the $2 billion mark. Nonetheless, it remains a contender for the all-time Top 10, needing an additional $441 million to surpass Jurassic World.

This projection appears feasible based on its current international trajectory, despite a decrease in domestic box office performance.
